I was tasked to create a short sequence, inspired by final scene from 'The Good, the Bad and Ugly' directed by Sergio Leones. Using similar camera techniques and editing style to create the final outcome. I was put into a production group to help out with the who gets what roll. On the production crew, I was the camera operator, where I would change camera settings for how much light is needed and the style we should film in. I want to showcase three different personalities to convey the storyline, instead of just copying and creating a recreation of Sergio Leons work on 'The Good, the Bad and Ugly'.

Location - Preston College's field, located by the carpark.
Lewis - Clint Eastwood
Asante - Antagonist 1
Ben - Antagonist 2
Logline - A short scene of a recreation of the shootout in ''The Good, the Bad and the Ugly'' but CINEMATIC and comedic twists.
3 cowboys at a standstill, waiting for a shootout.
POV shifting between each cowboys, eyes darting between each cowboy.
They all fire their weapons.
Clint Eastwood would be flung back, falling down the hill.
The final shot would have his hat resting on the grass going in and out of focus.
Visuals: Close ups, extremes close ups, wide shots and extreme wide shot. I will also include 1 cowboy shot.
Initially, I wanted to create the short film into a wide screen aspect ratio, this was to create a cinematic feel for the film. I did this by changing the sequence settings to 2560 x 1080. I would also turn the saturation up on the clips and increase the contrast in the 'lumetri colour panel' to help convey the cinematic feel. I then key framed a clip with Clint as the aspect ratio kept cutting off his head. I fixed this by key framing the start of the clip and the end, where the head is in the shot with room above. I also had to reposition the clip as I zoomed in with the position in effects control and key frame that too. I did this with the antagonist 1 too, as she didn't have a extreme close up of her eyes, which I opted to track the shot, slowly zooming into her eyes, which are darting around. I then added audio, as I wanted the clips to match the tune of the classic cowboy music. I first tried to remix it by right clicking on the mouse and going into the remix options. This was to extend the music further, as when I cut the music down I was left with 25 seconds of the music. However, it did not work, as it remixed the music in the wrong order. I would then revert back to the short music and use this to my advantage to end after the 'shots fire' to keep the viewers on the edge of their seats and wanting more, I also did this, as many films would use this technique (cinematic silence/sound dropout) to add the emotional impact and tension to their films. 'Blair Witch Project' would use this for realism, suspense and psycho, before violence. I tried to add a green effect of blood splatting out of Clint's body, when he gets shot, which would add realism to the short. I did this by downloading one of YouTube and ultra keying them with corner pin, lens distortion and transform, despite adding the effect, the blood splats was not realistic to someone getting shot in the chest, when I tried looking for paid ones, often 3d models, they were priced at 400+ pounds, which was not in my production budget. I instead used fast shots layered Clint rolling down the hill on top, lining them up to switch on the beat, acting as the gun shot, this would also workout in the end, as its a college project and would be shared around, representing the college.

When editing this project, I found that I wanted to shoot in a wide screen aspect ratio, which meant I had to manually rescale the footage one by one, which slowed down the editing process. This could have been improved if I shot in 4K. However, this would create a long exporting time for no reason when full HD is already good. The message of the film was edited well, as I wanted to show three different personalities. Although, I would mask each character and change their saturation and change the camera angles to be more unique to the specific personalities. I have developed to be more precise with keyframing, when editing, as I want the zoom into the eyes of a character at a specific point of the timeline.
