I was tasked to created a silent film. My original idea was to have multiple characters by the same actor, this is to convey the seven deadly sins. I portrait this by having the main character in white sat a computer, staring at a white screen to show his state of his health mentally. I would then have the sins characters wear all black, matching with each other. This worked out better as I had the exact same costume in the opposite colours. This allowed the production to progress as I had a clear idea of the outcome I could have. it came to storyboarding my ideas, I found this more difficult to draw my ideas from pen to paper. I wanted the first shot to be a establishing shot where the camera is looking into the window of the door to the room with one bright harsh white light from the computer screen. I wanted this as white has connotations of metal health hospital, which could show the audience that the character is going through something that is difficult. However, this did not happen, as I ran out of time to get all the filming shot.
When we first started shooting the film, we all wanted different angles and have different ideas of how the film should be shot. I initially wanted to open the film by having the back of the character on screen before showing him typing. However, Zach wanted to open the scene by using the keyboard shot, which slowed us down but I thought I could use that shot at the end of the film before the hand on the shoulder to build up the suspense.
When I first opened premiere pro, I placed all the footage I had onto my timeline, this allowed me to create a clear idea of what I could do. I would then place the shot of me sat at the desk on the bottom layer so I could mask onto to that layer to add the multiple parts of the character's personality, I would mask around the monitor to see the other layers, however, I forgot merge the two layers, which created a invisible character, when it came to adding the fade transition to the start of the silent film.
